The Monké Skateboard School will teach the basic of skateboarding in a number of small classes (6 -8) students. These classes will be held for both beginners and intermediate skateboards. Our instructors are certified by the national skateboard certificate program and are certified in Standard First Aid & CPR.The purpose of the clinic is to teach the fundamental and innovative skateboarding techniques and to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.We teach the SKATZ © Skateboard Teaching System. The SKATZ Program is a dynamic progressive teaching system for children and youth with an emphasis on FUNdamentals and safety.

The first annual Creative World {an arts and justice festival} will be held August 12-14, 2011 in Mission, British Columbia, Canada. We are followers of Jesus, passionate about creativity and social justice, and excited to provide a space for folks from all walks of life to come together and be inspired. Buy tickets now.

What’s it all about?
Creative World is a grassroots arts and justice camping festival with speakers, musicians, and workshops.  Bring your family, friends and neighbours and enjoy a relaxing and inspiring weekend with others passionate about justice.

Who will be speaking?
We are excited to announce the initial line-up of speakers, including Shane Claiborne, Cheryl Bear, Ched Myers, Bob Ekblad and Elaine Enns.  Check out the speakers page and check back regularly as we add new speakers and workshop leaders to the mix.

What about music?
Local musicians and bands including Shad and Zaac Pick will be a key part of the festival, bringing their unique take on justice and creativity through music, spoken word, slam poetry and more.  Read more here.

How do I get there?
Creative World will be held on Stolo Nation land at St Mary’s in Mission, BC.  Its easy to get there and directions and more information about this historic site can be read here.

Where will I sleep?
Bring your tent, or better yet, bring a friend with a tent or sleep out under the stars.  The park has spectacular views of the Fraser Valley, Fraser River, and on a clear day you can see the grand snow-capped peak of Mt. Baker in Washington State.  More info here.

Who can go?
Anyone and everyone.  This is a family friendly event with fun things for the kids as well as speakers and music that will appeal to all ages.  Read more here about theCreative World children’s program.  Because many of our friends are in recovery from addiction, this will be an alcohol-free event.

What will I eat?
In the age-old tradition of camping, we encourage you to bring your own food or share with others.  You’ll also be able to sample the gastronomic delights available from our local food vendors or walk ten minutes to downtown Mission where there are an assortment of shops and cafes.  Read more here.

Hell resembles nothing so much as a dreary industrial city in the north of England, its denizens free to leave whenever they like – aboard a bus bound for a heaven that’s like nothing you’ve ever imagined.  A theologically dazzling journey studded with memorable characters, mind-spinning dialogue, and images of human folly and sublime hope that will forever change the way you see eternity.

Originally titled Who Goes Home?, inspired by Blake’s The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, Lewis uses this story of one man’s bus ride from hell to heaven to examine the successes and failures of the relationship between history’s two most dramatic of opposites.

A mainstay on Vancouver’s stages, The Great Divorce marks Kyle Rideout’s debut as a theatrical director. Already an up-and-coming filmmaker, Rideout won the NSI Drama Prize, Bravo!FACT, and NFB FAB award his short film Wait for Rain, as well as festival success for Hop the Twig.  Known for his fantastical and comic approach to storytelling, Rideout will bring his larger-than-life sensibilities to Lewis’ theological masterpiece.

Established in 2003 in Liverpool, England, Souls Rest gained a reputation for creating dynamic and inventive hip hop music in both live and studio settings. Comprised of emcee ‘The Rawface’ and DJ ‘Philamonic’, Souls Rest recently emigrated to Canada setting up a recording studio and working on the creation of new music for an EP (’Two Minutes”) which was released in November 2009.

Souls Rest originally began as a 5 piece live band, playing at small underground nights in Liverpool before moving to larger events across the UK. Over time the group changed shape, culminating in a sharper more focused sound based around the traditional hip hop elements of the DJ and the Emcee. Souls Rest have three previous CD releases: 2003’s ‘Hip Hop Fun for all the Family’, 2004’s ‘Extended Wordplay’ and a self titled EP released in 2006. Having played at venues ranging from grubby clubs to large-scale festival stages, Souls Rest bring with them over six years of live performance experience.

Souls Rest’s original sound is a result of two distinctly different approaches to music production. ‘Philamonic’ began DJing by spinning house and then drum and bass records, before moving on to the art of turntablism and hip hop music; while ‘The Rawface’ was heavily into London’s UK Garage scene before maturing into a hip hop MC. This eclectic background as well as a love of all genres of music (with the exception of country obviously) has developed within Souls Rest a passion not only for the music they create but also for those that hear it.

Souls Rest focus upon using their diverse musical influences to infuse this culture with positively proactive sounds and are excited to bring to Canada their inspiring and innovative hip hop music.
